Starkville Second Servings:
Transforming Substance into Sustenance
Starkville Strong’s Second Servings is a community-focused initiative led by our team that aims to combat food insecurity in Starkville, MS, by repurposing surplus food from local restaurants, community events, and Greek life organizations. This program hopes to expand its reach and efficiency in collecting, storing, repurposing and distributing nutritious food to those in need, thereby reducing waste and hunger simultaneously.
Neighbors Helping Neighbors:
Fostering Deep and Meaningful Connections
Through donations and sponsorships, we gather a wide array of items, ranging from essential perishable and non-perishable food items. Each attendee is provided sacks to fill with whatever they need. Those in need, as well as our regular clients, are invited to come and "shop" from the items we've laid out. This model encourages conversation and interaction, building bridges of understanding and empathy. We believe that being in touch with the real struggles of our neighbors strengthens the social fabric of our community.
Five Dollar Friday:
Help Us Reach Our Goals
We ask the community to donate on Fridays. This helps us continue our mission and outreach with food insecurity, housing instability, homelessness and community advocacy. Donations help us achieve our nonprofit goals of building a better support system for our neighbors.
